“Are you sure that’s a real spell?” said the girl. “Well, it’s not very good, is it? I’ve tried a few simple spells just for practice and it’s all worked for me. Nobody in my family’s magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased, of course, I mean, it’s the very best school of witchcraft there is, I’ve heard – I’ve learned all our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough — I’m Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?”
She said all this very fast.

↳ Rinko Kikuchi as Minerva McGonagall“The door swung open at once. A tall, black-haired witch in emerald green robes stood there. She had a very stern face and Harry’s first thought was that she was not someone to cross.”
“Madam Professor Minerva McGonagall (b. 4 October 1935) was a witch and a registered Animagus who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1947 to 1954 and was sorted into Gryffindor House. She procured a wand before attending Hogwarts: fir and dragon heartstring, nine and a half inches, stiff. By the end of her seventh year at Hogwarts, Minerva had achieved an impressive record: she achieved “Outstanding” in all her O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. examinations, she had been both a Prefect and a Head Girl, and won the Transfiguration Today’s Most Promising Newcomer award. Minerva also played for Gryffindor Quidditch team in her student years.
After her education, she worked for two years at the Ministry of Magic. During this time she fell in love with a muggle farmer, Dougal McGregor, but turned down his proposal of marriage as she was unwilling to leave the magical community. She then returned to Hogwarts to teach, where she became Head of Gryffindor House, Transfiguration professor and concurrently, at differing times, Deputy Headmistress and Headmistress of Hogwarts.
Between the two Wizarding Wars, Minerva married her former boss from the Ministry of Magic, Elphinstone Urquart. They lived in a cottage in Hogsmede until Elphinstone’s death three years into the marriage. After this, Minerva returned to live at the castle full-time.
McGonagall was also a member of the First and Second Order of the Phoenix. In 1995, she opposed Dolores Umbridge, the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts. She also protected the students from Alecto and Amycus Carrow from 1997 until 1998, and as part of this resistance movement, fought in several battles of both wars, including the Battle of the Astronomy Tower and the Battle of Hogwarts (where she led the resistance against Lord Voldemort).
She survived the Second Wizarding War and continued her job as Headmistress.” - From “Faces of the Resistance” by Alice Tolipan. (x)
